Katie began dancing for the Lord at her church when she was 8. At age 13 she began taking classical ballet lessons under the direction of Jutta Hardison; it was during this time of dedicated study that Katie realized she wanted to pursue dance. In 2008 she became a part of Willamette Apprentice Ballet, a pre-professional student company. She danced with WAB over the next several years under the tutelage of Matthew Averill, Irina Vassileni, and director, Megan Skinner. She knew she loved God and loved to dance but it wasn’t until she spent a summer with Ballet Magnificat! that she saw how she could use this calling for Him. Katie continued her education of dance in 2011 by attending the School of Dance Studies through the University of the Nations as well as joining Ad Deum Dance Company for their summer intensive in 2012. During this season she was able to cultivate her love of God and the arts and learn how to better serve Him through the ministry of dance. In 2014 Katie graduated from the Paradosi Ballet Company Trainee Program, served as an apprentice for the 2014/2015 season and is now a Company Member in Paradosi. She is so excited to not only grow as a dancer but to use her passion for the glory of God.
