*Please be advised: Students who register in Ballet 1 or higher after March 1, 2018 will not be eligible to participate in the Spring Recital in June. Please keep in mind that a portion of class time will be dedicated to rehearsing for recital.

2017 / 2018 CLASSES OFFERED:

All classes are year-long and end with a recital showcase in late May/early June. Our children's classes are geared for dancers ages 2-18. Not all classes are offered at all locations. Students that do not attend Life Christian Academy may enroll in ballet or hip hop at their school after signing a waiver.

--BALLET--

Ballet/Tap Combo (Ages 3-5)

Creativity and imagination is encouraged as students are introduced to basic ballet and tap techniques. Learn the joy of dancing in a safe and fun environment!

Pre-Ballet (Ages 4-5)

Students are introduced to the joy of dance and how they can use their movement to glorify God. Students are encouraged to use their imaginations while basic principles of muscle development, musicality, coordination and motor skills are learned, as well as the use of space, shapes and personal creativity. Basic ballet etiquette and terminology is introduced, while the classroom atmosphere is fun and inviting.

Dress code: White cap-sleeved leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a bun.

Ballet 1/Ballet 1B (Ages 5-7)

Students are introduced to the joy of dance and how they can use their movement to glorify God. Like Pre-Ballet, imagination continues to play an important role in the classroom. Barre work is introduced as well as correct body placement and principles of ballet technique and terminology. Classses will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, grace and musicality.

Ballet 1A (Ages 6-9 or teacher permission)

For advanced Ballet 1 students. Students continue to develop introductory skills. Students build upon skills introduced in Ballet 1B. Furthur ballet technique and terminology will be introduced. Classses will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, grace and musicality.

Ballet 2 (Ages 8-9)

Students in this level will begin to develop as dancers and continue their work on building strength, flexibility, grace and musicality. Solid ballet technique and terminology is further introduced.

Ballet 3 (Ages 10-12 or teacher placement)

Careful attention to student's individual physique will develop increased strength, flexibility, balance and musicality. Students will expand their vocabulary and continue to build a solid technique foundation. Enrolling in Pre-Pointe is recommended.

Ballet 4 (Teacher placement)

(Ballet 4 is a faculty placement class. Students must be at least 10 years old with previous extensive ballet training to try out the class.)

Careful attention to student's individual physique will develop increased strength, flexibility, balance, grace & musicality. Students continue to expand and develop their vocabulary and solid technique foundation. Students are encoruaged to enroll in Pre Pointe as well.

Ballet 5 (Teacher Placement)

(Ballet 5 is a faculty placement class. Students must be at least 10 years old with previous extensive ballet training to try out the class.)

Careful attention to student's individual physique will develop increased strength, flexibility, balance, grace and musicality. Students continue to expand and develop their vocabulary and solid technique foundation. Ballet 5 students are encouraged to enroll in Pointe 1 and/or Pointe 2 depending on teacher recommendation.

Ballet 6 (Teacher Placement)

Students continue to build their movement vocabulary and artistry, and work on developing strength, grace, and ease while dancing en pointe. Ballet 6 students are encouraged to enroll in Pointe 1 and/or Pointe 2 depending on teacher recommendation.

Pre Pointe/Pointe 1(Teacher Placement)

Students will strengthen their feet and ankles, and learn the fundamentals of dancing en pointe. Pre-pointe students will gain strength for pointe by performing exercises on demi-pointe. Open to pointe 2 students as well.

Dress Code: Appropriate class leotartd, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, pink pointe shoes (as discussed with teacher), hair in a bun, theraband.

Pointe 2 (Teacher Placement)

Students will continue to gain strength and coordination and will be challenged with increasingly difficult skills.

--HIP HOP--

Hip Hop 1 ( Ages 4-7)

This high energy dance class is designed for boys and girls who want to learn the latest urban dance steps in an appropriate manner. This class also encourages freestyle dance elements to help dancers create their own individual style. Elements include proper conditioning and warm-up, as well as beginning dance steps and combinations.

Hip Hop 2 (Ages 8-9)

This high energy dance class is designed for boys and girls who want to learn the latest urban dance steps in an appropriate manner. This class also encourages freestyle dance elements to help dancers create their own individual style. Elements include proper conditioning and warm-up, as well as intermediate dance steps and combinations.

Hip Hop 3 (Ages 10-12 or teacher permission)

Learn the latest urban dance steps in an appropriate manner. This class also encourages freestyle dance elements to help dancers create their own individual style. Elements include proper conditioning and warm-up, as well as intermediate dance steps and combinations.

--Additional Classes Offered--

Contemporary (open to students enrolled in Ballet 3-6)

Contemporary is a blend of classical, modern, and jazz styles with a solid ballet foundation set to Christian music. Students will learn to improvise and choreograph their own movements in an encouraging environment.

Stretch & Strength (Ages 12+)

Students will focus on exercises designed to improve balance, coordination, flexibility and stamina and reduce injury.

*Some classes may not run due to low enrollment. Classes must meet a minimum of 6 students in order to begin. Parents/students will be notified 24 hours prior if a class is canceled or postponed.
