Paradosi began in August of 2007 with 7 dancers from all over the country. Directors Joel and Tennille Carver both ministered with Ballet Magnificat!, the world’s premier Christian Ballet Company located in Jackson, MS. After 11 years, the Lord called them back to the Seattle area where they were both born and raised. Having a passion for the Northwest, for the arts, and most importantly for their Savior, they began Paradosi.
Paradosi had the wonderful privilege of performing in over 30 venues their first year and the Lord has increased their territory and favor as the years progress. Now in their eigth season, Paradosi has had numerous opportunities to travel down the west coast, across the country, and even internationally proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord.
Tennille felt the call to a professional dance career at a young age, but after being raised a pastor's kid in Redmond, WA knew the Lord had bigger and better plans for her life than just being a performer. She moved to Jackson, MS at the age of 18 to join the World's premier Christian Ballet Company, Ballet Magnificat! Ballet Magnificat's main purpose is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through dance in every avenue possible. Tennille was blessed to be trained and mentored by Kathy Thibodeaux, founder and director of Ballet Magnificat! as well as Silver Medallist in the 1982 International Ballet Competition. After 3 years of training and dancing Joel and Tennille married and she began teaching in the school. She taught in Ballet Magnificat's School of the Arts, helped develop the Trainee Program with over 30 college aged students and directed Ballet Magnificat II for 6 years.
Joel, born and raised in Puyallup, WA moved to MS on a college soccer scholarship and was introducted to Ballet Magnificat! through Belhaven College. Joel quickly became a lover and supporter of Ballet Magnificat! He appreciated and enjoyed the unique way the gospel was shared through the dance. Joel and Tennille met, married and now have 3 children; Taitum, Samuel and Maeve.
After 10 years with the ministry, Joel and Tennille felt called to Michigan where they were blessed with the opportunity to run a dance school with over 500 students. Tennille became school principal, administrator, teacher, choreographer as well as Director of the Jackson Ballet Company.
Not long after, the Lord called them back to the Seattle area where Joel and Tennille were born and raised, to begin preparations for a School of the Arts as well as the Northwest's First Professional Christian Ballet Company. After 2 years of preparation, counsel and recruiting, the plans fell into place and the Lord began Paradosi in August 2007 with dancers from all over the country with the same passion as the Carver's; to worship the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength as well as present the gospel of Jesus Christ through dance, drama and personal witness.
We are called to declare his praises, Who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light! I Peter 2:9
