I am a native southern boy from Louisiana that has lived in the Seattle area since 1999. I am married to my beautiful wife, Claire, and we have two incredible kids - Amelia and Simon. I currently work in the accounting profession as the Managing Director of Accounting & Air Group Controller at Seattle's favorite airline - Alaska Airlines - and have been there since 2005. I am an elder and the Treasurer for LifeWay Church. I came to know Jesus at an early age and was blessed to grow up in a home with a solid Christian family that showed me what it means to be a follower of our Savior. Every day I am amazed at his work in my life and the life of others around me.
For the past twenty five years I have been involved in the financial services field focusing on capital formation for small companies seeking entry into the market place. Early in my career I worked mainly with medical products and services introducing new techniques that were innovative and cost saving. We developed several radiation detection techniques that are still in use today in various forms. I was also involved in the very first mobile barium swallows performed at nursing homes in specially equipped vehicles that came to the facilities eliminating the need to transport patients to hospitals. We expanded this business into a five state region. We sold the company to Sun Healthcare and this procedure has spread to most mobile x-ray companies. I then developed a gamma radiation detection system that is used worldwide to verify blood irradiation at hospitals before transfusion. This also led into a product called “SunSpots”. SunSpots is an adhesive sticker which attaches to the skin to detect UV-B radiation from the sun. The SunSpot sticker detects the maximum amount of UV-B rays a person should be exposed to on a daily basis. We had this product on the shelves in 150 Wal-Mart stores all across the Sun Belt. I eventually sold the company and the product is still on the market under the name UV SunSignal Sensors.
My name is Cindy Steedman and I am a retired Spanish instructor. I have two adult sons and I live in Puyallup with my husband of 28 years. Missions and non-profit organizations have been an active part of my adult life. My primary involvement is usually as an interpreter for groups traveling to Mexico. As a metastatic breast cancer survivor, I truly understand the importance of living a quality life with people I care about. I am blessed to have the time to serve in a volunteer capacity for causes that make a difference in people's lives.
I met Joel Carver, the director of Paradosi Ballet Company on a mission trip to France four years ago. I was impressed with his vision to bring a Christian ballet troupe there to perform. Since then, my husband and I have supported and watched the beautiful exhibitions orchestrated and choreographed by his wife, Tennille. It's been my privilege to serve on the Paradosi board for the past year.
